I had in mind to send letters on 31.Dec.2011 as last day of the year and the day was Saturday, although its weekened but they usually open at this day, I could have dropped them in the box but i wanted to mae sure the are all being stampped with the required post mark and correct date, the post office was closed :( but there was a notice on the entrance that said the tomorrow the central post office will be open ,, EVEN BETTER ! 1st January , so tried to remember as much of my friends name as possible and stamped them my self and sent them ... hope they like the surprise

The 2nd of December 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of unity between the seven founding fathers of the United Arab Emirates.
An anniversary of this prestige requires an iconic and strong brand platform to embody the achievements of the past four decades. The UAE 40 National Day logotype depicts a silhouette of the iconic image taken on 2nd of December 1971 depicting the establishment of the federation of the UAE.
This strong image captures the seven founders of the UAE, lead by the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who collectively believed strongly in the union. As per the original image, the UAE National flag is pivoted in the centre of the logotype. As a representative from the ruling family of Ras Al Khaimah was missing from the original picture the image was slightly modified to include Sheikh Saqr Bin Muhammed Al-Qasimi to ensure all seven emirates are illustrated. This modified image is one of the only true representations of the ruling fathers at the time, where spirit of the Union was born, and a flag was raised
The National Day Primary Colour Palette sets the tone for a strong and patriotic brand, inspired from The UAE national flag. The Secondary Colours allow for a wide range of combinations to add variety and longevity to the brand. The Al Bidyah Mosque is the oldest worship place in the United Arab Emirates and is a popular stopping off place for residents and tourists.Women as well as men can visit although it is advisable for women to take a scarf or similar covering for the head and shoulders.Take some time to see the castle above the mosque. This is an important archaeological site in the UAE.ConstructionAl Bidyah Mosque is built of stone and mud bricks and is coated in many layers of whitewashed plaster.Architecturally, Al Bidya Mosque is unique in the UAE and the engineering features are considered a major accomplishment for the period of construction. Its distinctive roof with its four pointed domes is supported by an internal pillar and is unusual for religious architecture in the region.The prayer has a small mihrab (the niche in the wall that indicates the direction of Mecca) and a simple minbar (the pulpit which is usually situated to the right of the mihrab and consists of a raised platform reached by a set of steps).HistoryAccording to a radiocarbon analysis, the date of the construction of the Al Bidyah Mosque is thought to be as early as 1446 AD. UAE - Ghaf Tree released 31 March 2011

The ghaf (Prosopis cineraria) grows in the desert regions of south-eastern Arabia, as well as in Iran, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. For centuries it has been an essential food source, as well as a source of fuel, shelter and medicine. Its leaves were once used instead of rice, its elongated pods provide fodder for animals which in turn supply milk, butter, cheese and meat. The ghaf woodlands also support large populations of insects, which in turn provide food for reptiles, birds and small mammals. This sturdy, evergreen tree can withstand prolonged drought and high salinity, tapping water deep in the sands. The existence of ghaf in an area indicates the presence of groundwater. But mounting developmental and demographic pressures are contributing to the tree's decline as ghaf woodlands are being cleared and groundwater over-extracted; depriving the trees of the little water they need to survive.

in some of the below exhibits that are on display include a rare collection of stamps that are made in Iraq during the British occupation from 1917-1923

it was a nice and unique experience for me to attend the exhibition, it was well organized with nice stamps shows, There were nice daily programs:
Children paintings competition and the winning paintings are going to be issued as stamps by the Emirates Post.
An auction for Stamps and some Phone cards.
Workshop of how to prepare a stamp show.
two lectures about Postal History in GCC region conducted by a lecturer from Kuwait, and Postal history in Algeria unfortunately I did not attend the closing ceremony

ABOUT ARABIAN STAMP EXHIBITION
The Arabian Stamp Exhibition is an annual event gathering together stamp collectors and their invaluable collection of stamps of different countries in different eras.
This 2010, The Arabian Stamp Exhibition will be held in Sharjah at the Water Court of Mega Mall showcasing over 100 stands from participating Arab countries like KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar.

PROGRAM
The Arabian Stamp Exhibition is a 6-day event starting on September 22 to 27, 2010. Lecturers have been invited to share knowledge on stamp collecting as well as some tips and training. The floor will be opened to exchange stamps and ideas with other philatelists including an auction of some very rare stamps.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) was established according to Ministerial Decree No. 372 on June 24, 1996. Since then, the Association has tried to continue the success achieved by Philately in the UAE. It has an elected governing council for a two year period comprising a President, Vice President, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, Chairman of Special Committees, and four Committee members. The EPA now has 215 subscribing members, many of whom are at an advanced enough level to participate in international shows. In a short period of time, the Association has been able to develop philately at local, Arab and international levels. This has been achieved through its zealous participation in various activities and exhibitions and through the effort put forth by its members

The majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is probably the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society - and one of the most beautiful in the world - initiated no less by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is fondly thought of as the father of the UAE.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, popularly called the Grand Mosque by local residents, is seen as a construction to ‘unite the world’, using artisans and materials from countries such as Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, Iran, China, Greece and the UAE.
The Mosque’s initial architectural design was Moroccan, but it evolved to include many global features, including exterior walls that are of traditional Turkish design. Natural materials were chosen for its design and construction due to their long-lasting qualities, including marble, stone, gold, semi-precious stones, crystals and ceramics.

The 30th Anniversary of UAE-Korea Diplomatic Relations

The UAE and the Republic of Korea established bilateral relations in 1980. The Diplomatic ties are still progressing at all levels through common intiatives in regional and international forums.
These relations were highlighted through exchange of official visits between senior officials from both countries that played an important role in giving a new impetus to bilateral relations between the 2 countires and in commercial cooperation berweeen them & in other areas. As a result , a solid foundation has been establishedand paved the way for intesifying the exchange of official delegations aall levels . Korea puts the UAE on a priority list in its plans and projects with countries of the region, the reason is the political , economic and oill factors of the UAE.

U.A.E GRABBED MEDALS IN LONDON 2010 STAMP WORLD EXHIBITION

The Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) participated in the London 2010 Stamp World Exhibition held in London, United Kingdom from 8 – 15 May 2010. The exhibitors from more than 65 countries participated in the show. EPA participants in the show won a number of laurels for their entries at the exhibition.

Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Tayyeb Khoory, President of Emirates Philatelic Association won a Large Vermeil Medal for his collection “Abu Dhabi From Trucial States to U.A.E”. Ms. Nasreen Fatima won Large Vermeil for her exhibit “India: Queen Victoria, 1855-1900, The D'La Rue Issues and usages”. From May the 1st till Otober 31 2010 , the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.
More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever, one of which is the United Arab Emirates, the United Arab Emirates Pavilion looks like one big golden color sand dune found in the deserts of UAE and the Empty Quarter .

The outer covering of the pavilion is gold-colored stainless steel. Its undulating roof, looking as if it has been shaped by the wind, makes the pavilion shimmer and change colors, reminding visitors of the Middle East country's various natural environments (from UAE Pavilion Features).

For this occasion on May 12th 2010, Emirates post Issued two commemorative stamps, the denominations are AED 1 and AED 5.50.

It is very noticed that faclon is almost in most of the GCC Countries( Gulf Council Countries) stamps .. money ..etc as it is is the national bird United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and several other countries and is a symbol of force, Power, Free spirit, Royalty and Courage. Hunting by falcons or Falconry is one of the most and important means of hunting in Arab tradition and culture (Mostly for Royalty and noblemen) .

Reason I thought of writing it is that Falcon had been on UAE Definitive Stamps for years (Since 1973) , and a few other stamps ( including the latest one in the previous post).. so it deserve to write abit about it.

Stamps are from a stamps Vending Machine ,Even though they are not real stamps but they were nice, I liked the idea of choosing the amount of money and it would asks you if you want the balance money as money or a stamp, selection of languages is available, it has two images though ( that was in October 2009)

Nice commemorative stamp was issued for the occasion of the 38th National Day of the UAE.

On the second of December every year is the celebration the the National Day, as 2 December was the Birth Date of the United Arab Emirates, the face showing the official logo of the the 38 years of the union. the heart shape is formed of number 2 both in Arabic and English ( 2 December) and the colors are the 4 colors of the Flag.

100 Years for the Postal Services in UAE

On September, Emirates Post with Emirates Philatelic Association celebrated the 100 years of the Post Services in UAE, through an exhibition in The Arabian Shopping Center,members of Emirates Philatelic Association in the exhibition with some of the rarest stamps and historical postal items.
The Emirates Post released new set of 4 stamps & a Souvenir sheet on August 19, 2009 to commemorate the 100 years of postal services in the United Arab Emirates.
The design or the pictures shown on the stamps are from th collections of the collectors and members of the EPA members.
